What is New at Jewelry Mall?
Many of you have been wondering what happened with Jewelry Mall.
After several years of running Jewelry Mall, Dave Braun has
graciously decided to allow us to take over Jewelry Mall again.
As part of the hand over, there has been major site cleanup
(fixed broken links, pictures, redirected sites) and update.

Storing Jewelry Tips
Often not much thought is given to how to store jewelry.
However, if you store jewelry in the wrong manner, you can
damage your expensive jewels! Here are some tips for
caring for your gems & jewelry:
- Separate everything.
Gemstones can scratch each other and metal finishes can
scratch. The easiest rule of thumb is keep items separate.
This will prevent items scratching, chains tangling and more.
If you do not want to invest in a jewelry box, consider
organizer boxes, sock boxes, tackle boxes, or ice cube trays.
- Keep beaded items flat.
Anything strung on silk, cotton and even nylon can stretch.
Pearls, lapis, and other beaded necklaces need to be stored
flat so the silk will not stretch. Though some items are
strung on metal wire, when in doubt, store flat.
You can buy jewelry rolls if you have many beaded necklaces.
- Store METAL necklaces on a hanger.
This is for convenience mostly as it keeps your necklaces
from tangling. It makes finding a necklace very easy.
- Ring Holders work.
If you are prone to loose rings, ring holders solve
your problem. Ringholders make it EASY to find that ring.
- Tarnish Resistant Cloths are Recommended for Silver
If you aren't fond of polishing silver, tarnish resistant
cloths really help. If you don't do this, sunshine cloths
help remove the tarnish easily. (These cloths work wonders
for removing tarnish!)
- Avoid Sunlight
Many gemstones fade in sunlight. If you are storing jewelry
in the sunlight, look at our Gemstone information page for
which gemstones fade in sunlight:
Gems that Fade
- Avoid Excessive Heat or Moisture
Storing jewelry on the dash board of a car, by the heater
in your sunroom, or greenhouse is NOT recommended as it
may damage some gemstones and metals.
- Consider a Jewelry Box with a Lock and Key for Security
As with other things, having a lock and key to your jewelry
box can help with safe keeping.
- When Traveling Carry Your Jewelry on You
If you carry the jewelry on you, it will not be lost in
luggage. Bringing large amounts of Jewelry is NOT
recommended.

Webmaster Help
Reviewing your logs can tell you where your traffic is
coming from, what pages are being viewed, and how popular
each page on your website is. This information can show
you what areas to focus on, what ad programs are working
and how people navigate your site.
Most web service providers allow you access to your logs.
They can even recommend products to review your logs as
needed. A popular free one is Webalizer; a popular
paid one is WebTrends. I would only get Webalizer if
your web service supports it or if you have a programmer on
staff. Webtrends is a much easier.
There are MANY products on the market. Ask your ISP
which one they recommend as that is where you will get
the most support.
See our free resources for webmasters page.
